Dear reader,

It's been a little while since you last heard from The Gazette.

We'd like to tell you that's because things have been extraordinarily busy here on Stream Street, but the truth is rather different. For once, all our work-life balances have tipped quite firmly in favour of life.

And, do you know what? We've rather enjoyed it, helped in no small part by this seemingly never-ending summer we've been having.

However, we do have a pressing reason to get in touch. We've been asked to mention to all the Gin Club members of the Gin Shop that their October Gin Club boxes left a little earlier than usual this month. In fact, they went out yesterday.

The reason, we're told, was to get them away before their blasted Royal Mail price increases kick in, saving the Gin Shop a couple of hundred pounds in the process.

Happy days. We've also been told there may be a G&T waiting for us if we pop in, so everyone's a winner.

So, for now at least, the notebooks have been dusted off and it seems as good a time as any to reluctantly get back to work.

Although, to be fair, we're not the only ones reluctant to accept that the summer is over. Even the weather seems determined to keep it going. We're at the end of September and there are still days when autumn feels like something that hasn't quite got around to happening yet.

But we all know how this works.

Sooner or later the mornings will get colder, the evenings will draw in and life on Stream Street will start gathering pace again. There are things to do, plans waiting on desks and plenty happening behind the doors along The Street.

So, while the sunshine may be hanging on, our little disappearing act probably can't.

The newsroom is back, the kettle's on and, after a rather enjoyable spell with life getting the better end of the bargain, we're back in the game.
